Why do you get Migraines?

This blog is for all of you migraine sufferers out there. Hopefully it will help you discover what is causing your particular migraines.
When I was in about 7th or 8th grade, I started getting a lot of migraines. I couldn't do anything when I got these. Usually it would just hurt on one side of my head really bad. Sometimes I would throw up during these because it hurt so bad. As the problems persisted, my parents took me to a doctor to see what was wrong. First thing that they thought was wrong was my allergies. So they put me on some allergy medicine and sent me on my way. Well of course, the headaches continued, so we made our way back to the doctor's office. This time I found myself taking a bunch of test to try to find out what was wrong with my head. Safe to say that all of them turned up negative. So the doctor finally told me to start watching what I eat. Whenever I got a migraine, I would right down what I ate or drank in the past few hours. Come to find out that I was allergic to certain foods. Cheddar cheese was the main culprit (mainly because of my love for macoroni and cheese). The weird thing is that I can eat white cheese. But that cheddar puts me on my knees. The longer that I have kept up with what I eat when I get migraines, the more foods I find that I'm allergic to. Here are just a few that I have found: cheddar cheese, sweet tea, seasoning on fries, spaghetti sauce, milk, onion rings, and a few other things.
So if you are like me and get migraines a lot but can't figure out what is causing them, try watching what you eat. It might just keep you from a lot of miserable nights with all the lights turned off. This has been another random blog that will hopefully help some of you migraine sufferers out there.

  2. You are so right. The ingredients in the foods we eat cause all kinds of issues with our health - from migraines to obesity to many other problems. Our food sources are not what they used to be and the general public is in the dark about it - and our bodies are not only getting lots of manmade ingredients - but the supposedly healthy products (fruits, veggies) are only at 40 percent of what we need to function well. Check out the option I use to give myself great nutrition.

  3. To Anonymous-Hopefully watching what she eats will help your sister. And you are very welcome. That is why I wrote this particular blog.
To Ellen- I completely agree. These ingredients seem to affect different people in different ways. People go to fast food places and just eat whatever is on the menu. They don't even bother to check on what preservatives are in them. I wish the fast food industry had to make information about their products more readily available for the customers to see what they are actually eating.

  6. Yes, I love cheddar cheese. But I have not eaten it in a few years now. Velveeta shells and cheese used to be my favorite.
And as far as hot dogs go, I had one of the worst migraines from one of those about 6 months ago. I was throwing up everywhere! Sorry for the graphic info. But I do not eat hot dogs anymore either.

  7. For several years I had difficulty focusing, like double vision. I went to several specialists. I even went to see specialist at Duke University. Catscans, MRI's, many eye doctors could not find anything wrong with me. I decided to figure it out myself. I stopped all artificial sweetners and like magic no more eye problems. If I drink a diet drink my problem comes back. Good thing I had good health ins for all those wasted tests.

  9. Yea i have the same problem and i kind of figured it could be poor dieting...Its a shame what they put in the food we eat...You basically cant eat anything because everything is bad...Things that are suppose to be healthy for us is not healthy. As much as food cost it's harming us as well and it's money being waisted on garbage. The FDA needs to do their job and the gov. should be concerned instead bein money hungry (o'l sorry ass government we have)

    P.S. Thanx Random Guy
